Tasting Georgia

‘Tasting Georgia’ is back with new recipes!

Get a taste of the Caucasus with a special 3-hour brunch where we’ll teach you how to prepare simple and delicious dishes, followed by a tasting of wines from the cradle of viticulture. 
In recent years, more and more people have become aware of the rich culinary tradition of this mountainous region of Eastern Europe, for centuries a gateway between east and west. Georgian native Lile will tell you about her home country, famed for its unique spices, healthy but tasty vegetable based pastes and other exotic dishes.

You will learn how to make 2 typical Georgian starters, Pkhali and Badridzhani and a main course, Chicken Kharcho. We’ll also prepare the secret weapon of Georgian cuisine, the spice mix known as Khmeli-Suneli, getting your own mix to take home. Last but not least, we’ll try Georgia’s mouthwatering cheesebreads, Khachapuri.

Once the cooking is out of the way, Barcelona based sommelier and wine consultant Nika will introduce you to the world of Georgian wines, one of, if not the most ancient wines made in the world. 
We’ll be tasting:
- 1 white, aged in traditional terracotta kvevri pots
- 2 different styles of reds, made with local grape varieties

Originally from Georgia, Lile Sekaniya is a qualified yoga instructor & international wellness events organiser, interested in how food affects our moods and well being. She also comes from a long line of cooks, and is likely to regale you with stories about her Grandma. 
Nika Shevela is a sommelier, wine communicator and consultant originally from Rostov in southern Russia. With years of experience in languages and tourism as well as an impressive knowledge of Spanish and international wines, she’s the perfect and affable guide to the wonders of Georgian wine.
